Job Description :
Welds components for hydraulic cylinders, rods, and tubes according to specifications provided.  Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: fixture setup, tacking and welding components, maintaining quality of weld and components, using computer programs, and required cleaning and maintenance.




Primary job responsibilities2:


-          Welds components for hydraulic cylinders, rods and tubes


-          Keeps welding spatter to a minimum, using spat guards and/or prohibiters as appropriate


-          Removes spat with manual or power equipment as necessary


-          Monitors and corrects weld defects (cold lap, porosity, undercut, etc.)


-          Enters required information to computer


-          Completes routing sheets according to next required process


-          Directs part overruns to correct location(s)


-          Washes all components before welding


-          Completes welding processes according to production standards


-          Sets up tack fixtures according to production standards


-          Performs daily maintenance and clean up


-          Is a productive member of his/her department and adheres to all RMT, Inc. policies, including safety requirements/procedures, in order to ensure a safe working environment for all RMT, Inc. employees


-          Applies common sense understanding to basic work processes


-          Carries out detailed written, oral or diagrammed instructions


-          Reads and interprets sketches and prints


-          Demonstrates a working understanding and practical application of shop math: practical application of fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, practical algebra, geometric construction, and essentials of trigonometry required to interpret prints and produce quality parts


-          Analyzes problems common to welding and identifies the root cause


-          Measures components and assemblies to verify conformance to the print (tape measure, scale, caliper)


-          Demonstrates working knowledge of gases and power sources used in the welding process


-          Communicates (speaks and understands) in English


-          Reads/comprehends safety rules, equipment manuals and methods and procedures documents (English)


-          Performs other duties as required or assigned


Required Qualifications :

Specific training/certification:


-          Onsite training specific to job responsibilities


-          AWS certification as specified by RMT, Inc. and certain RMT, Inc. customers


-          Employee may be mentored by an experienced member of the department as assigned by the workgroup leader and /or department supervisor


-          Basic setup training of tack fixtures


-          Process and flaw detection monitoring techniques as determined necessary by the workgroup leader and/or department supervisor


 


Other:


-          Position requires lifting-up to 70 pounds


-          Employee is expected to become familiar with department and general plant layout


-          Employee is required to purchase basic tools required for employment in this department


-          Employee is expected to work full shifts with the possibility of some extra daily and/or Saturday hours
