Housekeeping - Maintains assigned area in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. Works under direction of Director of Dietary and Environmental Services. Incumbent is guided by a knowledge of common house-cleaning devices such as scouring pads and powder, dust rags, polishes, brooms, wet and dry mops, wet and dry vacuum cleaners, and floor machines, physical arrangement of facility’s standard cleaning procedures, and by the instruction of the Director of Dietary and Environmental Services.
Linen - Sorts, folds, mends, and distributes clean linen. Stocks linen closets and supply carts. Weighs both clean and soiled linen. Keeps accurate count of linen weights and stock levels. Retrieves soiled linen and prepares it for pickup by laundry service.
Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings and equipment and mopping floors with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent spread of disease.
Uses damp, disinfectant-treated cloths and vacuum cleaner to dust window sills, blinds, floors, furniture, and equipment in an orderly fashion.
Scours and polishes sinks, tubs, mirrors, and similar equipment.
Washes walls and ceilings using water, cleaning solutions, sponge, and cloths.
Gathers and disposes of trash, washes wastebaskets and large refuse containers, and relines with plastic bags.
Removes soiled linen from all areas.
Coordinates routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services.
Documents cleaning tasks completed on schedules or task completion lists.
Maintenance repair requisitions are written as needed.
Supplies are stored when they are delivered.
Drapes and cubicles are taken down to be cleaned when scheduled or due to isolation status.
Clean mops and rags are folded and stored upon receipt.
Refills soap, towel, and toilet tissue dispensers.
Knows proper carpet care - how to of major and minor cleaning.
Knows proper floor care (tile, terrazzo, vinyl): buffing, stripping, and finishing.
Assures that an adequate supply of linen/laundry supplies is maintained in storage areas to meet hospital daily needs.
Cleans work/supply carts, equipment, and work area as directed or when necessary.
Keeps department director informed of linen or supply needs.
Mending of linen is completed in a timely manner.
Collects, sorts, and weighs soiled linen, garments, etc., and places in appropriate containers or assigned areas.
Isolation cart set ups are readily available and is coordinated with nursing services.
Linen items are separated that need special stain/removal treatment.
Folds, counts, stacks, hangs, and distributes clean linen or garments to assigned areas. Empty clean linen carts from laundry service.
Press/iron garments as instructed or needed. Memory Meal supplies cleaned and pressed.
Isolation linen is collected and proper bags are replaced on holders.
Maintains open communication with linen service so all problems are handled in a timely manner.
Labels new linen.
Other duties as assigned.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
