Job Description :

Broad Function and Purpose of Position:  The Operator is responsible for the timely execution of daily production requirements, achieving safety, housekeeping, quality and rate objectives and participating in continuous improvement activities as directed.  The Operator must be able to work independently within the framework of a team while demonstrating a positive attitude.

Specific Responsibilities:

¨       To understand and comply with all Sika safety, site security and environmental policies.

¨       Achieve established housekeeping objectives adhering to established best practices and ensuring work areas are maintained and left in a clean and orderly fashion.

¨       To execute production processes according to established quality guidelines while reporting process variations in a timely fashion.

¨       To understand and attain the daily production schedule.

¨       To ensure that production processes achieve optimum rate-of-output.

¨       To ensure proper set-up of materials and good operating condition of the equipment prior to executing batch making processes and to assist as directed with the set-up for incoming shifts.

¨       Complete SAP order confirmations in an accurate and timely manner. 

¨       To execute production activities including batch making, packaging of finished goods, product set-ups and changeovers and other production activities as directed by the Production Supervisor / Manager.

¨       To operate and maintain equipment according to best practices and assist in preventive maintenance activities and troubleshooting as needed.

¨       To work with a positive attitude and as a team towards a common goal.

¨       Guide, assist and train new and temporary employees.

¨       To lead, participate or support continuous improvement activities as directed by Management.

¨       To execute other projects or activities to-be-determined as directed by Management.


·       Education:  High school diploma or GED required.

·       Experience:  1 - 2 years experience in an industrial environment

Special Requirements/Competencies:

·       Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

·       Must have good math skills, including the ability to work with fractions, decimals and percentages.

·       Must have the ability to develop process expertise in order to facilitate troubleshooting.

·       Must be able to maintain an excellent attendance record.

·       Must be flexible to work any shift and overtime as business requires.

·       Must be self-motivated and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

·       Must be able to operate a forklift and other equipment as trained

I.              Physical Requirements


                                Heavy Work

                                Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently;                                          moving   about the plant frequently.



II.             Physical Activity Required of the Position


                Climbing: ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc., using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

                                Standing:   particularly for sustained periods of time.

                                Reaching:   extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

                Pushing:   using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust, downward or outward.

                Pulling:  using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

                Lifting:  raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.

                                Walking:   moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

                Talking:  expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.

                Carrying:  to move while supporting, for example packages.



III.            Mental Processes


                                Reasoning:  intelligent ability to use judgment, ability to understand directions.

                                Mathematical ability:  ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and other mathematical                                                    capabilities.

                                Language ability:   reading, writing, and speaking.


IV.           Conditions worker will be subject to in this position. 


                Worker subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions; not necessarily from temperature changes.


                Worker subject to hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, or exposure to chemicals.


                                The worker may be required to wear a respirator.
